What happens in a year without resolutions? A lot
For the first time in likely a decade I made no New Year’s resolutions before heading out to Madison Square Garden to do the floppy puppet dance with my Phish friends. In previous years these had standard forms like “get weight and strength under control” and “practice more bass” - and in the year-end exit rush that turned into Refolding Company, I just didn’t bother. What I did find was a set of things about which to be intentional: practicing bass, learning songs beyond mimicry through phrasing and construction, focusing my morning commute on brain food before Dunkies and Pret-a-Manger, improving my sleep consistency, and connecting with old friends on a haphazardly consistent timetable.
